Learning About Podiatry

Hi everyone, my name is Felix. Welcome to my site about podiatry. When I was regularly running marathons, I would come home with severe damage to my feet. All of the soaking and rubbing did not help my feet heal fast enough. By the time I had to go back to work, I was still hobbling around on the outside of my soles. Luckily, a friend directed me to a highly respected podiatrist in my area. With my doctor’s help, I healed quickly and prevented future foot pain. My site will cover all of the ways podiatrists can help you protect and restore your feet. Thank you for visiting my site.

Lipo Limp: Three Ways to Deal With Foot Pain After Liposuction

When you are having a cosmetic procedure such as liposuction, it is important to remember that the body will treat this as trauma. Since the experience of the surgery will be traumatic for your body, you may experience pains that you are not expecting to different parts of the body. One unexpected place that you may see pain after liposuction, especially to your legs and thighs, is in your feet. Here are three ways to deal with foot and heel pain after liposuction.

Wear compression socks

Compression socks will be important after a surgical procedure. After liposuction, it is common for parts of the body to be bruised. The bruised feeling will make it difficult to walk at times. Since you may be resting more often and your body will be healing, you will need to wear compression stockings. Wear stockings that cover the foot and go up to the thighs. The compression stockings that cover the feet and heels will help to keep the blood flowing and make your feet and heels feel better.

Get massages for the swelling

One of the reasons why you will be dealing with heel and foot pain after liposuction is due to the swelling. The body will swell after liposuction which means that you need to help the system get back to normal. Lymphatic massages will help reduce the swelling by helping the body release all of the fluids that need to drain after the procedure. Be sure to concentrate on the feet and ankles in order to take away the heel pain. You may need to continue to get lymphatic massages for months after the liposuction procedure as swelling can begin to happen anytime while the body is healing.

Stop the heavy walking

After a procedure such a liposuction, you may find that you are heavier on your feet, due to the pain. When you walk, try to identify if you are walking heavier on your feet or leaning back on your heels. Wear socks with padding in the heels to help to support your frame if you are having a hard time walking directly upright. If you notice that you are walking on your heels, you should attempt to walk softly and balance better on the center of your foot. Get well-balanced shoes so that you are able to walk appropriately and with good padding on your feet.
